Wow…that YASA motor is the cat's meow, John…any idea how much one of those motors and controller would cost?
At about 2x the weight of an 8HP ETEK, that thing's capable of delivering 8x the HP---probably I'd need a new outboard lower unit…also more batteries (and I already have 30kwh of lithium).
Might be enough power to get my boat up on a plane, though…
Some day…

Bendik,
Yes to maps v curves but for me what matters is the steady state cruise combination of volts and amps which gives a particular efficiency at a particular speed. So say you took the map of this YASA which is for combined motor and controller at 700V. All it really tells me is what happens under the stated conditions.

In principal it's all down to the prop and keeping volts up, amps and temperature down and shaft speed down.
