Re: [Electric Boats] Electrical 'efficiency' of batteries in my boat.

You are correct.

I do not know much about chargers and batteries but dual pro service has been great.
I purchased refurbished unit to cut down on the investment.
I had problems early on that we concluded was charger related.
They replaced the charger no questions asked.
As it turned out the charger response was due to damage to one of my AGM's.
I have no idea how Dual Pro stacks up against others but I have been pleased with performance.

Re: [Electric Boats] Re: 48 VOLT AIRX WIND SPEED vs AMPS

Thanks Eric. When I was out sailing last week trying to catch up with the Reid Stowe flotilla my meter pegged a number of times at 5+ amps,. It was a scary/fun ride.

According to the manufacturer's chart, the Air-X 48V will generate 1A at about 13 mph (11.3 kts) windspeed and 5A at about 23 mph (20 kts)windspeed.

Re: [Electric Boats] Electrical 'efficiency' of batteries in my boat.

I have 4 Lifeline AGM batteries which I charge with a Dual Pro 4 bank charger.

It is a Marine charger and I mounted it in the boat. It is s smart charger and reduces to a trickle. I keep it plugged in all year. It has LCD readout so you can get a pretty good idea where each battery is at when charging. The AGM's are expensive however I keep the boat in the basement when charging and preferred the idea of the AGM's in the closed space-no off-gas . Supposedly have more charge cycles etc but I suspect even over the batter life the Trogan's or similar llead acid will work out cheaper.

Re: [Electric Boats] boat registration and hull number help, this is going ot be confusing.....

well sounds like you got a pproblem and since I am not sure of AZ law seems like step one is to document via sworn statements back to the last registered owner both thye HIN record and the Reg # trail.

There is suppoosed to be a hidden HIN but unless they know where so can observe it with a small hole and a dental mirror they will tear it apart.

my opinion take the boat baack and get your money back. take the police with threaten filing fraud charge, consider small cllaims and get another
boat and chyeck this stuff before you pay.

I sold a boat that I bought back 15 years later and the title had never been transfered though it went thru 3 "owners In 3 other states. they just put on numbers from a boat they already had

when I went to register I found I still ownhed it. Might have been real problem if they had hit somebody with it and it tracked back to me as registered owner for damages.

So my advice, when you buy a used boat have the seller come with you to the tax office or wherever you register to complete the sale ( make paymenht there)

The state registration numbers are still showing it is registered to someone totally different than who I bought it from. BUT NOT STOLEN. The state sticker however matches the registration rec i got when i bought the boat. You would think the previous owner ( that i got the boat from) was lazy and because he had a similaur boat and didnt want to pay for two boats being registered so he just put the registration sticker on the older boat. The marine police here are telling me that because the registration paper says its an 86 even though the marine poilce dept can pull up the previous owner and what the boats real year is, the marine poilceofficer wants to start taking things off the boat and cutting to find the 2nd hull vin number. How can i not damage the boat. and still get it registered? I am so frustrated at all this back and forth. its like ok they dont want to except that its an 80 but that is an 86 and damage my good solid boat, and make it to where i have to do major repairs to MAYBE find a 2nd number. when it probably doesnt have one anyways, because it was made before 84. i have done so much research on the challenger boats till I am blue in the face. I am finding alot of informatiopn but nothing that is usefull just a bunch of dead ends.

Trojan recommends charging with a standard charger every month or so during storage . Which is probably good enough. But i do know that to get maximum battery lifetime, professional companies, such as for telephones use a constant voltage float charger avoiding the need for a monthly big charge altogether and avoiding battery cycling. The maintaining current is very small so a light cable at 36 volts could be used rather than a line chord .
