Another idea would be to use a Windows VM. I am running Mint 17 and use Windows 7 running in a VirtualBox VM from time to time.

I didn't try wine. I got tired of fussing with wine many years ago and it just didn't occur to me and anyhow, I didn't switch to Linux just to have a nice windoze experience. I might try it some day when I have nothing to do, which probably won't be until I am dead.
