Hello all,
Having recently joined the list, and having some time to read some of the posts going back a ways as well as information in the file area, I find there is a lot of good information for someone new to electric boats. Despite a fairly good background in electronics and machine control I find it is taking a bit of study to become familiar with today's electric motor characteristics. Thanks to all for the very informative postings.
I have a 20 ft. sailboat, an English twin keel fiberglass sailboat of about 2000 # displacement, that I am interested in electric power for (being very tired of the outboard ICE!). I have done a bit of plugging in the appropriate vessel and motor data to the EBOAT MODEL SPREADSHEET, but curious of how the extra surface area of the twin keels will affect performance (if they do), or is that accounted for in the displacement/waterline length/beam data?
Any comments would be appreciated.
Thank you,
John Acord
