[Electric Boats] Re: Parts List for Electric Conversion

Dave, I am planning in doing the same for my Catalina 30. Right now, my first decision is if I want to use an "internal" mortor connected to the shaft, or the Re-e-power. The adventage to that system that I see is that it frees up room inside the boat, where if needed, I can put a portable generator (after puting exaust pipes and all that). Also, the water helps keep it cool. Additionally, I was told that if I install it with the prop facing forward, it really helps during regeneration mode.
The clearest disadventage in my mind is the price, at $3800 for the 3000 model, plus the charger and the batteries.

As for sailing kits, I am looking foward to hear feedback from the group. I am looking for a system that will replace my 25 HP engine on my Catalina 30 MKII, and that will allow me to motor at 4 knots for up to 8 hours. I currently have on 80W 12v solar panel, but I will adding three more once I install the engine. I live in Florida.

Thanks,
Angel A. Rebollo
