Re: [Electric Boats] motor overheating

Bob,

More data would help us help you.

Prop Dia? Pitch? Speed reduction? What motor? Voltage? How hot is the motor? How long does it take to get hot? How hot is the Controller?

Can you measure motor or shaft rpm?

Do you have a ammeter to measure motor current? Current creates the heat.

Alex at Thunderstruck is a good resource.

Subject: [Electric Boats] motor overheating

I installed the Thunderstruck sailboat kit in my Hunter 27.
I'm having problems with the motor overheating.
I've adjusted the packing gland so as to have the proper drip for cooling and the prop shaft is turning freely.
I would appreciate any other considerations/advice to resolve this condition.
Thanks,Bob
