I have seen no reference in the ABYC standards that recommends both soldering and crimping terminals.
E-10.8.2
Battery cable terminals may be soldered, without being crimped, providing the soldered length is at least 1.5 times the diameter of the cable.
E-11.14.5.7
Solder shall not be the sole means of mechanical connection in any circuit...
EXCEPTION: battery lugs
As I read the standards, mechanical crimping is allowed without soldering, for any applicaiton.
If you can reference the section of the ABYC standards that support you post, I'd very much like to be enlightened.
