It would be very dangerous to mount it below decks and use it there. The carburetor is not marine rated and you can experience gas dripping out of it under some conditions. So in addition to it not being designed for an enclosed space installation it could be an active danger to the boat. These are light enough that I would see about an above deck shelter for it that is very! well ventilated and easy to access.

I have a generic knockoff of the honda 1000 and have seen it leak up to a 1/2 cup of gas out the carb after being shaken around in moving it. being outside to allow the gas to evaporate and the fumes to escape is the only safe option. If I remember right one cup of gas evaporated into fumes and mixed with air is the equivalent of greater than 10 times its weight in TNT for explosive power.
