[Electric Boats] Re: Solid Nav question for new boat

Richard, There are several units which are similiar to the Solidnav, and are less expensive. Scott, an electrical engineer, has a belt drive almost identical at electric yacht.com, a beltless one (gearbox) at propulsion marine, both of which are considerably cheaper, and are drop-in ready. You should also look at advanced marine which has a newly developed 24v assembly along with a 48v kit. There are also companies on the east coast. I would strongly encourage you to review all of these before making your decision. Become familiar with the whole operating system because batteries and prop size/configuration also play a major role in the integration of a system. I have found all of these companies, including Solidnav, and their representatives knowledgeable as well as being extremely helpful and patient with those of us that are new to electric propulsion.
