Put a reminder on your calendar for once every 6 or 12 months to measure the voltage at the panel, and then measure the voltage at the controller. If you're not seeing any loss, you're probably fine.
Depending on your environment (freshwater with low humidity, vs. really humid saltwater coastal area), it might be fine for a number of years. I would also assume (??!) that the connections and areas of the wire near the connections would be most vulnerable. Assuming not cuts in the wires, I wouldn't expect the tinning to make that much difference in the bulk area of the wire.

Subject: [Electric Boats] Solar Panel Connections to Solar Controller
I have a pair of Suntech 280 watt (peak) panels wired in series to a MidNite Solar charge controller for my 48 volt battery bank. Working well so far. The wire from the panels to the charge controller is not tinned and I am wondering if that might be an eventual problem on boats.
