James's comments are very appropriate.  I'll expand on that a bit.

The risks of paralleling different age lead acid batteries are well documented.  The upper end of that risk is thermal runaway and exploding batteries. 

I have paralleled new golf cart batteries and used them for years without any indication of inter-battery issues.  But that was with moderate currents, less than .3C and shallow cycling generally less than 50%.

The issue with a string of mixed age batteries is the older ones limit the output and capacity of the string.  It is probably worth the effort to set up and use two banks.
