I'll chime in here. Been fooling with electrics for a few years, mostly on small fishing vessels. This rig works great. It's a 36 v. MotorGuide with the controller on the tiller. The boat is an OLD (1967) 17' Cape Cod Cat, about 2400 lbs. Batteries are where the Inboard used to reside. Take a look. Glenn/NC

Subject: [Electric Boats] Re: New 4kW rudder-mounted EP
The future for such products is good. I like the idea of a boat builder and boat designer building the system as they can build the unit to marine standards. I question the sizing as it is a 4kW. The Hanse 315 is a coastal cruiser at 10316lbs and I would suggest that the larger 10kW motor would be a better fit. The 4kW would be ideal for a 25-28ft 5000lbs boat. I suspect that the larger unit will be offered in the future for this boat. The rudder post must also be heavier built to take the strain of pushing the boat. It will address the issues of backing up and moving around a mooring field.
