RE: [Electric Boats] New 4kW rudder-mounted EP

 

 

Ok I looked at a 315 and see it was a sailboat. There was a picture of a power boat in the news release so figured it was one as far as the folding prop goes. I still don't see any large advantage to folding props based on the amount of problems people have had with them and only gaining a knot of speed but to each his own. Plus I have regen so don't want to loose that.

I'm not sure I understand the need for a folding prop. The elimination of the sail drive is an improvement feature that should make anyone owning one stand up and look. Also 2 to 4 Li batteries and going 30 miles? That seems rather ambitious do to the boats weight. Maybe they mean "packs".

It will be interesting to see if this catches on and how well it holds up.
