[Electric Boats] Overheating Motor Controller [1 Attachment]

[Attachment(s) from moriartybob@yahoo.com [electricboats] included below]

I've had my Electroprop system for about a year now but haven't had a chance to use it that much.

Recently, while motoring for about 4 hours, consuming ~40 amps, the Sevcon 4 motor controller complained about overheating. So, I added some offsets (see attached photo) but had a subsequent, similar overheating condition once thereafter.

Nothing very scientific here - lots of variables. I'm planning to add a finned heatsink to the underside of the Sevcon and maybe a muffin fan.

Installation sloppiness is my doing. (It's on my list to tidy up.)

Wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar.

Cheers,

--Bob M
