I would not want to be in any sort of bad weather with the old wet exhaust opening into the ER ventilation system. Just sayin. Check valves, flap valves, whatever, are not something to depend on. Also you need two ventilation openings, intake and discharge. You could just open up the ER to ambient cabin air, maybe, and have a fan or blower for supplemental cooling. If you want to get serious about ventilation/cooling in the ER, you need to consider installing a couple of cowl vents, somewhere not so vulnerable to following seas, and where any water ingress won't drip right on your electrical stuff. Just my dos centavos.
