[Electric Boats] Re: Bilge pumps?

Some of the new pumps automatically cycle on briefly every couple minutes, and if resistance due to the presence of water in the pump is sensed, they continue pumping until there is no more resistance. Personally I don't like them, because my boat doesn't make any water at all unless I am using the shower. I consider it a wasteful drain on the battery. I prefer a traditional float switch, or better yet, two float switches and relays so the pump doesn't immediately cycle back on from backflow after pumping out. I don't like check valves in the bilge system. They get fouled easily.
