There are tri-fuel conversion kits for most generators and quite a few available for the hondas.  Allows these generators to run on gas, lp or cng,  google it and sources will come up.

I think I read recently of someone who converted a Honda generator to propane. They calculated a 20lb propane tank equals about six gallons of gasoline. They also bought a spare carb so they could covert the Honda back to gas easily. IMO gas is much easier to come by when cruising (especially in remote areas) something you might want to consider in future trips with you boat.

Thanks for the responses.

I will check out the Honda option, any chance of getting that to run on propane? Anyone know the pros and cons of propane vs gas for this application?

The air cooled Hatz is intriguing, I will look at it with an eye to ensuring adequate ventilation.
