Re: [Electric Boats] Mew member Westsail 32 brand new elec. motor

So far it's great! I won't be motoring at hull speed for three days straight but, I have a Honda 3000 tri-fuel I run on propane that will make up the difference. I may get a bigger gennie and charger to run at hull speed but, I can do 3kts against the current, wind and waves and still put a small charge on the batts. I'm not quite done building. I need to hang a couple 30# propane tanks off the back and, erect the solar. After that, I really think I won't have a problem with distance. Much more experimentation to come. If I were rich, I would have gone a step bigger but, I'm a bit of a purist and really feel like I have enough to keep me off a Lee shore. The deep prop is amazing in the marina. I can actually steer in reverse!

Welcome Norm. I'm particularly interested in how you feel its working out with the 48v system. Any plans to eventually up that or is the lower power working out fine?
