[Electric Boats] Re: Orest Iwaszko returning to group

Im wondering if anyone is in the same boat as me?

I want to plod along at fishing speed all day day after day..
We use a 34 foot CHB for fishing at 2 to max 2.5 knots.
I have upgraded ?? from a 3 Hp Leeson which turned  my 1 1/2 inch prop shaft with 24 inch prop at 300 rpm.
I used a 4:1 reduction pulley with 2 side my side belts.
The amperage at the motor was just over 10 amps at 100 dc volts.  hummed along nicely on perfect days.
But ... I had to run the generator and fight controller heat issues.

I have installed the 3 phase ac-20 which seems to use 20-25 amps and smokes my belts esp on regeneration.

So belts are my #1 problem... Has anyone achieved a great setup from the motor to the shaft.
At the moment I have a double 10 inch pulley that I had machined to conform in between my transmission and shaft coupler that is turned my a 2.5 inch pulley on the motor. Although the 2.5 inch pulley worked optimally before at the lower torque Im thinking a 3 inch pulley might work better for less slippage and I don't require the high ratio any more. Any chance that fresh 1/2 inch double belts  might do the job Im concerned about the sideways tension required.
I have a feeling that a cogged belt will make me sleep better  so to speak.
