As some one who has a 2kVA UPS at work full of SLA batteries ( I think each pack has a dozen of those 12v 9Ah SLAs in it), the batteries are usually specially designed for the application where they spent most of their time 'floated' and only occasionally cycled.
 The plate construction is not optimal for a traction application where they are often cycled at high currents.

I'd check the actual battery specifications carefully.
