Temperature sensing is both cheap and easy. A $2 temperature sensor IC (Microchip Technology TC622), a resistor and an led would make a simple and reliable over temperature indicator. Put one (or better two) on each battery. Shut down the system (manually or automatically as desired) if you have a hot battery. __._,_.___
