Re: [Electric Boats] Battery specific energy and power in relation to volume and density

First look
" ..I´m really surprised at your numbers on LiFepo4 vs Lion NMC."
...
(Edit) Right .. saw it...
You take same total power, and then compare the mass/cost.
Yes.

I more/less agree with your numbers, except that in the real world, the
Lion cycles/lifetime are much more favourable than Your numbers re: AGM.
By about double, or 100% better.
Likewise, cycle depth is somewhat tilted /very little)..

By your numbers, AGM batteries deliver 136 £ / Nm, and Lion NMC 187 £ / Nm.
In the real world, by all reports I know of, == the same.
This might also be an artifact of the costs You used and all Your
numbers are spot-on !

But the lion (NMC) is more "risky", and needs a BMS more, to avoid issues.

Fwiw..
Boat engine rooms are usually /typically very hot in use (bigger boats).
Boats are often very hot when not in use (in Spain/warm climates), or
very cold (Finland, UK, etc..).

Re-cap (mine):
Typical retail marine lion offers today retail == 700€ / kWh.
== 100 Wh/kg, give or take.
Typical best solution DIY options are about 2-3 x cheaper new..

Typical lion usable energy/cost is about == same as any other technology
available today, 6/2017, be it AGM or lead.
This ratio is about to flip, likely this year, latest next year.
Because electric scooters/bikes/motorbikes make available huge numbers
of semi-industrial products at very low mass-produced costs/unit of
performance delivered.
