This looks like an excellent way to retrofit a boat into a hybrid. Just like new hybrid cars, the battery bank wouldn't have to be very big since the IC engine is available for extended duty. 15 to 20 minutes of electric drive should get most people away from their slips and under sail. I wonder about the charging rate when the engine is running, it's likely much lower than the typical discharge rate.

Does anyone know about the availability or cost of this unit? If it's available, it does set the bar for similar products.
