I agree that one should not get caught up in the motor weight when considering an electric conversion. I believe that motor weight ends up being a small part of the installation of an electric drive. With motors/drive units weighing from 60 to 100 pounds, they are just a small percentage of the battery weight, which ranges from 400 to 1000 pounds in a typical electric drive installation. Focusing on battery weight will provide a bigger difference in the overall installation weight.
