RE: [Electric Boats] Re: Emerging technology - hopefully lower cost

I apologize to you. I must have been miss informed. Or just miss understood.
Subject: RE: [Electric Boats] Re: Emerging technology - hopefully lower cost. Nay saying everyones ideas just because it does not conform to some ones idea of being correct before the problems can be worked out, or match what they all ready own themselves, and advertise quite freely, doesn't quite fit the subject. I never said I haven't learned something from him. Sometimes it is hard to understand what one reads with out turning it to fit what one wants it to fit. That wasn't a personnel attack on any one even though it appears as if was taken as such. Sorry I pointed out something that needed to said it will never happen again.

Wow!

Jet drives typically do not make good electric drive systems.  That said most of the people on this list tend to look at tech that helps move there boat or intended boat further than what can be obtained using conventional dino drive systems. The only exception is those trying to set records that don't care about distance.

What this list is looking for:
  • Lowest drag
  • Best bite
  • Lowest energy requirement

To give a review of a product that many here know won't provide these requirements left unchecked/uncorrect ed by those with time in the field, would be almost criminal to those wanting to build a system.

If you desire to set speed records, spend your time in the storage system and electrical end of things to assure enough energy to cross the finish line. Under the water ignore  best practice for economy and indulge yourself in speed equipment.

It's all about building for intended use.

Myles works hard moderating this list.  His efforts are to keep the list without links that are just advertising. He is self compelled to visit the sites mentioned.  Don't think he must read all the stuff he looks at to keep this site spam free, only that he makes the effort to keep this list something most serious builders want to subscribe to.

His oversight only comes from knowing a lot about electric drives from spending years involved with the subject.

Just in case you haven't been told lately, we appreciate what you do here Myles.

Wow! It is about time that someone with a little common sense pointed that out to him. Way to go Kevin. I was going to chuck this group off as a lot of busy bodies with more money then brains and egoes to match, but now I will stay around because there just might be a chance I will learn something about the subject instead of who thinks they know something about it. Reading is pretty basic but understanding what is read well some people just never get that hang of it. Well with that said we will both probably get kicked off here. If so it has been fun sitting in the back ground watching.
