[Electric Boats] Re: Size of Trolling Motor needed

 

I have a 55 lb. thrust Minn Kota and have used it on my Lightning Class wooden sailboat with a single AGM 12 volt battery mounted on its side. All up weight over 1000 lbs with crew. It got me in and out of the harbour nicely. Charged the battery after about every fifth use. Never had to fight against strong winds or currents though. Using the PWM, it uses up very little electricity at slower speeds.
