Hi John,
I installed the AMeP 5kW motor in my 27' Columbia two years ago. I researched the various options before doing the installation and have since attended several boat shows to compare my installation with other currently available electric systems. Even with two additional years for the other manufacturers to "catch up" with Arby's technology, I still think the AMeP is far superior to anything else on the market.
Arby and Kevin are honest, responsive, straightforward and will answer any and all questions you might have. I have had no problems with the unit and have no regrets with either the purchase or installation of my system and, in short, absolutely love it!
I live in the San Francisco Bay area and have never had an issue with range. My 48V LifeLine battery bank is rated at 255Ah and that would give me over seven hours of motoring at 35 Amps. Since it's a sailboat, and since I live in the Bay, I can't imagine a scenario for a day-cruise where I would need that much time under power.
If you choose AMeP, I am certain you'll be happy with your decision.

I was going to supply it with 48v via 4 lifeline batteries rated at close to 400ah combined. I would be interested in hearing about the reliability, ease of installation, and range of the AMeP setup. Thanks
