Hello,
I bought a bunch of the black 40ah valence XP1s from a vehicle startup in the Carlsbad area and also got a lot of the electronics from them. What I did when Valence gave me the cold shoulder was to interface to the RS-485 comm on the batteries to a computer to read back the data. Using an oscilloscope and the pc I have begun to reverse engineer the communications of the batteries so that I can interface it with my charger which I'm putting together. This is a 26 battery pack for an electric vehicle. I'll setup a blog or dropspace area to post what I learn about the Valence cells this week. It really pisses me off when companies produce stuff but don't support it or release even basic communications data to support it. Its actually dangerous for them because damage to result without proper interface between the valence cells and the charger.
Other than that the batteries seem to be pretty good they've held their charge well and keep blinking the green leds so all seems fine. The car will be operational this week so I'll let you all know how the batteries perform soon.
