Kevin, Thank you for the reply. It raised a few questions for me-
What does your boat weigh?
What speed do you travel at?
What size battery bank do you have?
Voltage?
How may HP is your motor?
These are the specs I am considering-
Weight 15 - 17 tons
Speed 4-5 knots
Two 50 hp electric motors (may need to be much larger)
Solar panels- 16' x 30'
The specs on the motor & battery bank are flexible. My plan is to have it
charged at dock, run under battery/solar power for up to a couple of hours.
Stay there long enough to recharge via the large solar array. The gen set
would be for those days requiring longer trips, or when the sun doesn't
want to cooperate. I also want to run Led lighting, Low Voltage frig,
Radio etc. . . off the battery bank.
Any input would be appreciated
