As a sailor at heart, 6 or 7 knots is quite fine, usable lead in a battery seems to me a better $/kg than dead lead in a keel. Although any powerboater using the Macgregor under electric power would be dissapointed.

The MacGregor is a most ideal boat for conversion unless you want 23 mph.I operated a Venture 25 for years with a 32 pound thrust MinnKota and was more than happy with it in reserviours. Twice the power with more batteries at 4-5 knots would be great, but would you be satisfied with the slow speed?
