I have run the boat twice for a few hours at a time with the generator plugged into the boat's AC inlet, the charger is permanently wired into the AC distribution panel.

I find the generator noise very annoying. The Honda 2000 has to work near its max continuous rating, and it does this admirably, but the generator is clearly working hard.

We have a link-pro battery monitor on board that displays current flowing into or out of the battery bank. With the charger on I can adjust the throttle to allow some or none of the current to charge the bank, with the rest going to the motor.
