I am looking at changing my Volvo Penta single cylinder 5hp diesel inboard engine, currently coupled to a volvo 110s saildrive, i want to know if its possible to keep the saildrive and couple an electric motor direct onto the saildrive? we have an Oyster 26' (8m) grp yacht approx 3.5 ton, has anyone done anything similiar? would love to hear from you if you have.
Obvious issues i can think of would be gearing, hopefully keeping existing 14dia by 7" pitch folding prop, and coupling to the saildrive.
