While the dangers of prop cavitation mentioned here are true, this is not really an issue for most of our electric conversions. Many of us are going to larger, higher pitched props that are turning slower than their IC counterparts. With a top motor RPM of 1950 and a 2.55:1 gear reduction, my 6kt prop speed is less than 800RPM. I believe that most of our boats (excepting electric drag boats) are set up in a similar fashion.
