Peter, I don't want to discourage you but you should be aware of the difficulties in going electric. In the world of electric boats what we have now that actually work are a few heavy complicated and large boats with limited range versus a larger number of very light weight fairly hi-tech boats that have the range but have little carrying capacity or speed.
In my opinion - and I'm an electric boater myself - a gasoline outboard motor still offers much more in the way of usability/cost/energy storage/power. Again it's just my opinion, but for now people needing to make a living on the water would be better off today with good outboards. That technology is more mature.
I hope I'm wrong, and if so this is a forum where folks won't be shy to point this out. Maybe we can spur some discussion.
