I don't think all Minn Kota's use resistor type speed controllers. I have a pair of MK-101's with very complex looking control mechanisms. Unfortunately I am not an electrical engineer and can't tell you exactly why they don't work right now.

this one is only for 12 volts but when you see how cheap it is using resistors is silly.
