Thanks Jim and all the rest for the comments and suggestions.  It's always good to hear form the brain trust that we in the club have brought together.  It spurs ideas and constructive debate on what we are doing and have done..

Hi everyone from "Zinger"
Check on my old photos.  I put my boat together about 12-15 years ago.  36 volt golf cart power.  I used the old manual fwd/rev swirtch from the cart.  I used a heavy duty shore power/ gen swtich for choosing 18 or 36 volts.  I disengage my fwd/rev switch when changing speed usually, but not always.  Never had a problem.  Still going strong.  18 volts gets about 3.5 kts @ 30 amp, 36 volts gets 5.5 kts @ 45 amp.
