Re: [Electric Boats] electric outboard bow thuster

I am in the process of taking a Chrysler 75 HP and making an electric out board.
I used a 3HP treadmill motor, its controller board and speed control knob.
I have only been able to test it on land so far in a garbage can full of water.
I used a killawatt meter to determine current draw and the most current it takes is about 750Watts, using house hold A/C 120V.
I plan to use a 1500Watt inverter with 24V of batteries.

This is a relatively cheap conversion.
Maybe it would work for a bow thruster, but you wouldn't get regen.

want to make my 60 hp crysler lower unit into a bow thuster and slow speed drive for my houseboat. thinking of useing ac drive from thunder struck. 48 volt. if i make it turn 360 degres around.. if i only swing it 180 and put in light revers will it work better for regen.
