I am working up an installation in a small sailboat, 20' displacement
hull about 2000#. Due to space requirements I want to use a minimal
battery stack and augment it with a small diesel generator. I have
looked at the Kubota EA 330 but it is a bit larger and heavier than I
really want to put in. Has anyone had experience with a small air
cooled diesel? Kubota makes an OC60 , 6hp, which uses both air
cooling and oil cooling that they claim is as quiet as a water cooled
diesel. I would like this to run a 48V alternator either supplement
the motor current or at least charge the battery stack without having
to generate AC and use a battery charger.
