Just finished the article. I agree  it's a shame they are going back to the dark and dirty side with diesel. Looks like the regen issue is what really what bothered them. It also seems to me they would have been happier with having a Honda 2000 (or even a 1000) on board for occassional bulk charging of the bank. Also it does not make sense to me why they would put the motor in regen mode using more power to lock the shaft rather than motor sailing using less power and also gaining more boat speed if the prop rotation was such an issue. Interesting that they commented on the lack of maintenance and cost with their electric system as those of us who have converted have happily found out too.  I think they will be unhappy once they go back to diesel. But, then again they will have a lot more to write about once they do.

It's a good read although nothing new. It's a shame they didn't work out the controller issues, they sounded like pretty basic problems.

I wonder how they would have done with a hydro-generator.
