I'm in the process of restoring a 17ft 1935 fishing boat. I was able to find an old OMC saildrive unit which mounts directly through the bottom of the hull. I have removed the powerhead and intend to replace it with an electric motor. I'm still debating whether to use a scooter or a golf cart motor. I can get a scooter motor & controller brand new for a lot less money than a used golf cart unit.
