Hi Eric,
There are some tax credits and grants out there for commercial projects. Apparently there is a grant in CA called the Carl Moyer Grant that you can apply for if you are re-powering with a more fuel efficient diesel or electric propulsion. Actually, the guy who told us about it at the Strictly Sail show said that if you applied and were going with electric your request got bumped to the top of the list!
We have also come across some Federal tax credits for commercial use. We just used that on our 2010 taxes for our demo boat. That was a nice plus and helped out a bit.
There are a few programs out there if you dig deep enough. I believe we will see more as people ask for it. Whatever you find though - make sure you have an accountant go over it with you to see if you really qualify.

Hi George.
The tax credit comment is a nice teaser, but I have yet to hear from a single person that has received a tax credit for the conversion of an ICE powered boat to electric. I know that California doesn't have any credits that are available to boaters. Car conversions have had some credits available over the years (I don't think that there are any credits available right now) and of course, there are many credits available for putting solor panels on private homes and commercial property.
So if you have specific information about available credits, i.e. which states, the amount of the credit, when the credits will expire, etc. then please share them here.
Fair winds,
Eric
