[Electric Boats] Re: Power Relationship

 

Hi Mark

I have had my problems with outboards.
Blown head gasket.
Water pumps.
Won't start. (had to use ether)
This seems to happen when you really need it.
I even had a problem with a diesel that would get air in the lines when the boat is heeled.

I hope electric power would be more reliable.
I sail in the Great Lakes so there is no salt water.
The batteries would add to ballast.

Manufacturers usually measure the motor's horsepower without gears and oil pumps and water pumps and alternators and any other incidental engine load.
