[Electric Boats] Re: Battery pack voltages

 

The biggest drawback to lower voltage, assuming you need X watts, is larger diameter cables and/or shorter cable runs. If the batteries can be located next to the motor than this isn't much of an issue. But if the batteries need to be centered in the boat this can be very expensive. You can't just use smaller wires, because they get hot. They can get hot enough to start fires.
