The frame I made as follows; I ripped a 3*6 treated pine in 3*1/4" battens and bent and laminated and glued with epoxy in shape. Very light and very strong, strong enough for sheeting the sail , which is the second function of the frame. The sheets had to go to a point about 2 ft above the deck, in order to set the sail without boom or wishbone, which would be in the way of the rolling mast for instant reefing and furling, hence the S-frames (davits) Rob |
