A rectifier just changes ac to dc, doesn't appreciably change the
voltage (about a .7v drop across each diode). You would need to drop the
voltage with a transformer, then rectify it. That would make a very bad
charger, although an ok power supply for the motor. I prefer running my
motors off the batteries, and using a heavy charger to keep the
batteries up. Usually with solar and having a gen for backup or makeup.
