[Electric Boats] Re: Alternative shallow draft propulsion

 

If your building a tug, why not two narrow side wheels. This would steer like a bulldozer, by driving each wheel at different speeds or even directions. The whole float and side wheels could be as narrow as the boat you are pushing or perhaps pulling. If they are electrically turned and capable of regenerative braking, you could camp overnight anchored in a current and have the wheels recharge your batteries, along with some solar panels you might could avoid docks and docking fees for a long time.
