[Electric Boats] Re: Escrow account for the Torqeedo 801

Hi,

I purchased a 1003 and some thundersky batteries hoping I could connect them together. I emailed torqeedo to ask if they had any plans for a 1003 battery adaptor, they asked where I was based and then never got back to me. This is exactly the same response I've had every time I've tried to contact them regarding anything.
I tried connecting the batteries inside the 1003 where it's internal battery connects. The motor works but the internal battery meter gets confused and will stop the unit running once it thinks the battery is run down.

If I was interested in buying one to use that way, I would contact Torqeedo directly to find out whether they ever intend to add that feature to the 1003, and if not, why not. Any answers that we make up about it here are pure speculation.

I have a 24 volt 115 AH battery bank on board supported by a 130 watt 24 v solar panel and a Samlex converter that provides 12 volts for the boat's lights, VHF etc. I've taken thirty plus mile trips with this setup and there is no way you could travel this many miles with the integrated battery. Florida can be windless and hot during the summer and you do not want to be drifting around in that heat because you don't have enough battery capacity. Thanks. Steve S.
