I would be surprised if auto start was not a feature of this Outback inverter, It was a feature of the smaller Outback units.  Xantrex is another popular off grid inverter manufacture :

I will search the "off grid inverter" systems thoroughly hoping to find this one more needed functionality.  I wasn't aware of the "off grid inverter" terminology.

Michael,

Every feature of your "UPS" is a basic feature of a quality off grid inverter.  Such as:
Just add batteries.
