Re: [Electric Boats] Re: Sea trials

Eric,

Pitt and I have the same boat and EY motor (although his girl is a bit facier and has newer sails and about 220 AH of additional lithium). I wish I could run up north and help Pitt out to return the favor of he did in coming down here to help me do my install (I was the one he mentions in the email).   My boat was in MDR next to you until a couple of months ago and now I am in King Harbor.  I have finished the exterior (this phase at least) and now I am working on the interior.  Now on the Lithium cells,  I was on that last shipment that came through Washington (and we all know what happened there), but as it turned out EY ended up taking  the loss instead of me for those and then Scott helped me source another vendor and got replacements within about 2 weeks (after having waiting those fun 4 months already).  EY really came through for me there and Scott, while extremely busy always finds time to respond to questions.

Hi Pitt,

Unfortunately, I'm too far away (SoCal) to join you for a last minute excursion. I'm looking forward to seeing some of your performance specs, there's not much in the way of real world specs for a boat your size. With accurate measurements, we should be able to extrapolate target performance numbers for a number of boats that fall in between.

And I can relate with the wait for Lithium cells. Mine took about 4 months and I was one of the last successful shipments that came through EV Components in Washington.

Fair winds and good luck with the trials.

Well I started here at the EB site and read everything, I was sooo confused, I went to the dealers and had trouble finding the right one, the boat is too big was the advice back then. Well Scott at Electric Yacht had developed a package for a customer in LA. I took a road trip and helped out with the intsallation and was sold. Then comes the decision to drop in a LiFePo bank 48v 540AH. OMG the waiting to get the batteries was a b1tch. Installation was fun and splashing was great. Oh yeah I dropped this packet into my 41Formosa Ketch 28 000lbs, I surfed her out of the Napa river after a 20 month dry spell. There were a few problems with the initial run and those we are trouble shooting with Scott as we speak. The level of customer service with Electric Yacht is great, I am an electrically disabled customer and they have held my hand and helped get it all done. Great effort from them I cannot praise enough.

Obviously I would prefer an amazon goddess with an interest in electrical boating, however if you have an EB or looking to take the plunge then you should take a look also? I was thinking a ride from the Marina to the mothball fleet and back. Short notice maybe but what an opportunity? I was thinking about a 2 pm departure?
