Every E-Boater should have some schedule to check out connections. The proceedure is simple. At the dock, run up the throttle to pull continuous high current through the battery string. Using a volt meter, measure the drop across adjacent batteries. It's normal to have 0.05 volts loss at a battery connection. Over 0.100 volt drop at the interconnect will cause some heating issues. Find one with a 1v drop and you'll need to remedy the condition at once. Running the motor under load stresses the connection to produce a measurable result an Ohm meter would not be able to detect. The resistance of the leads of the meter are higher than the values being tested for. Please consider wearing safety glasses, as a loose connection jarred during testing can create a spark. Vent your battery enclosure after charging to release any hydrogen gas before testing. Arby AMeP --- On Sat, 6/18/11, Mike <biankablog@verizon.net> wrote:
